22 nominees for Philippine Chief Justice of Supreme Court

By Perfecto T. Raymundo Jr.

The Supreme Court (SC) is now ready for the panel interview to be conducted by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) on the 22 nominees for the post of Chief Justice beginning on Tuesday.

The public interview will be held inside the Division Hearing Room of the SC.

Acting SC Public Information Office (PIO) Chief and Spokesperson Atty. Maria Victoria Gleoresty Guerra said on Monday that because they have been busy for the last two weeks in preparing for the panel interview, they are now only focusing on physical preparations.

Guerra said that three cameras will be installed inside the Division Hearing Room. The first camera will be for the JBC panel, the second camera for the candidate to be interviewed and the third camera will be for the audience inside the Division Hearing Room.

Although the panel interview will be open to the media and the public, those who will be allowed to watch inside the Division Hearing Room will be limited.

The last row of the seats will be allotted for the media, the first row for the JBC personnel, and the middle portion for the public.

It will be a “first-come, first-served basis” because seat stubs will also be given to the public.

Those who will not be accommodated inside the Division Hearing Room may watch at the lobby of the SC wherein a projector and a big screen will be installed, but with limited access.

Security will be strictly implemented on the members of the media, such that aside from the accreditation and media identification (ID) card which should be worn always, they should also leave a separate valid ID with the security personnel of the SC.
