Affordable Cheap Housing for OFW in the Philippines
Most Ilonggo overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) here are keen on investing on housing units while still working abroad.
Franco Aguirre of BPI Iloilo said that most OFWs in Iloilo are focused on spending their savings on housing and lots for their family. He said that most housing and loans division in the banking industry have noticed this trend among Ilonggo OFWs.
Aguirre said that unlike OFWs in other parts of the country, Ilonggos prioritize acquiring a decent house and lot unit for their family. He added that aside from education, OFWs in the region opt to invest in banks and other long term plans so that they have something to earn from when unemployed.
He also said that the OFWs in Bacolod City, Kalibo, Roxas City and recently, Antique are saving and building their new houses. The buying trend of houses and lots in the region is evident on the increasing number of housing developers and real estate investors in the region, he said.
