Atty. Jose Midas Marquez is Ready for Carpio and Sereno

Supreme Court (SC) Spokesman and Court Administrator Atty. Jose Midas Marquez on Wednesday said that he is also ready to be a spokesman for Associate Justices Antonio Carpio and Maria Lourdes Sereno.

This was the reaction of Marquez in the wake of renewed criticisms against his being the spokesman of SC Chief Justice Renato Corona, particularly on the impeachment of Corona.

Some lawmakers have called for the resignation of Marquez as SC Spokesman because he allegedly seemed to have been negligent of his duties at the highest court of the land.

However, Marquez said that only some lawmakers were hurling such criticisms against him such that not even once that a magistrate had complained that he had been negligent of his duties as Public Information Office (PIO) Chief of the High Court.

Marquez said that with the designation of former Department of Justice (DOJ) Undersecretary Ramon Esguerra, former Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasay, College of Law Dean Tranquil Salvador and Atty. Karen Gimeno as spokespersons during the Corona impeachment trial, he will not anymore be the focus of attention of the critics.

According to Marquez, there’s no reason for him to resign from his present position at the SC.

Marquez said that the officers of the Court should be the ones to say that he has not been performing his job well.
