The new leadership at Bohol office of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) commences with a reminder to taxpayers to take note on the October deadlines and maximize the remaining months of 2008 to help the government meet the tax collection target for this year.
New Revenue District Officer Marcelino Quito of BIR-Bohol starts it out with a serious plea to the Boholano non-VAT taxpayers to prioritize the payment of their monthly percentage tax dues on Monday, October 20.
He, likewise, expects VAT taxpayers to file and pay their quarterly returns on or before October 27 since the regular deadline falls on a non-working day.
Quito also appeals to all accredited agent banks, who have long been partners of BIR in tax remittances, to encourage taxpayers to fulfill their obligations to the government, “as this is a time to put together our resources to meet the required goals for the government”.
Tax payments are however accepted by collection officers in the municipalities and at the revenue-district office located at the 2nd Floor of Judge Antonio Oppus-Uy Bldg. at the back of the Gallares Memorial Hospital M. Torralba St., Tagbilaran City.
For the last quarter of this year, BIR will be conducting a re-tax mapping of Tagbilaran City and selected municipalities and a review of the 2007 books of accounts to remind taxpayers that books of accounts have to be complied with and have to be kept for three years as per revenue regulations.
On this, Quito had scheduled a dialogue with gasoline dealers at 9 a.m. on October 24, and with resort owners at 2 p.m. of the same day.
This is to lessen the 2008 collection deficit of RD 84 which must be met by end of this year or in barely three months.
Quito, the new RD 84 chief, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), who hails from the province of Pampanga.
He had been assigned to the NCR office, the districts of Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Makati and Masbate.
