Blood Donation in San Fernando City, Philippines

The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) has commended the city government of San Fernando for its valuable support in the group’s blood letting activities for the past years.

Richard Gordon, chairman and CEO of the PNRC, has personally handed the merit certificate to Mayor Oscar S. Rodriguez during the recent recognition ceremony for chapter volunteers and blood donors held here in recognition to the city’s strong campaign of enticing the public to participate in blood donation which he dubbed as an example of “noble act of volunteerism”.

“Mayor Oca is the kind of leader who shows a true volunteerism, with his background in politics, he shows selflessness in his life,” Gordon said.

“To become a member of Red Cross is a great privilege for us. Helping those who are in need is one of our responsibilities not only as a leader but as a human,” Rodriguez said in his speech.

The blood letting activities here in the city were already institutionalized and being conducted on a regular basis.

Moreover, such activities are also backed-up with information dissemination to let the people know that donating blood is healthy and must be done at least twice a year.
