Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)
President Benigno S. Aquino III will lead the officials and employees of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in celebrating the agency’s 21st Anniversary at the Multi-purpose Hall of Camp Crame in Quezon City on Monday.
Joining the President will be Jail Chief Supt. Diony Mamaril and Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo.
As part of its 21st anniversary rites, the BJMP recently unveiled its 10-year roadmap, which focuses on the humane safekeeping and development of inmates.
The BJMP said in a statement that the roadmap aimed to give an entirely constructive light to the system of imprisonment in the country that includes programs for inmates that “promote a purpose-driven incarceration, apart from its traditionally vindictive intent as punishment to a harm done.”
“Ensuring the security of inmates and centering on their welfare and development while under custody remain to be the priority thrusts of BJMP,” the statement said.
