DTI Program for Filipino Entrepreneurs
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) got the commitment of Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Teddy Casiño for fund support to its training programs intended for entrepreneurs.
Casiño is currently in Iloilo for a series of consultations with various sectors and getting the pulse of the locales as he also announced his interest to run for senate in the 2013 elections.
The lawmaker, who chairs the committee on small and micro entrepreneurs at the House of Representatives, said that he would just sit down with the agency to finalize how much fund his office could extend to the DTI here.
He also said that he looked forward for the program to be extended especially to urban poor communities as he underscored that going into business was one option to be able to respond to unemployment issues.
“We really encourage micro-enterprises and if there are programs on scaling up and integrating small and big players,” he said.
Meanwhile, DTI regional director Dominic Abad also disclosed that Iloilo City Rep. Jerry P. Treñas has already provided P2 million for the program.
Abad said that Treñas had also provided funds for trainings of out-of-school youths and the women group.
