Former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri Will Run in 2013

A former senator eyeing a comeback in the 2013 local and national elections is seeking the support from the Visayas and Mindanao regions if these areas want to have a louder voice in the Senate.

Former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, who can speak the local dialects in the regions, stressed there are only five senators coming from the Visayan region — two from Iloilo, namely, Senators Franklin Drilon and Miriam Santiago, Sen. Serge Osmeña from Cebu, Sen TJ Guingona from Bukidnon and Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III from Cagayan de Oro, while the rest come from Luzon.

He said numbers is important even in the barangay council in terms of appropriating and allocating funds for projects.

Zubiri is hoping he and Pimentel will reconcile because the latter is still questioning his inclusion in the short list of senatoriables under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

He thanked Vice President Jejomar Binay and former president Joseph Estrada for endorsing him in the UNA while Pimentel is opposed to it.
