Free Dengue Treatment in Pampanga, Philippines
Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda has instructed the nine district and provincial hospitals to treat dengue infected patients at no cost.
“I already ordered our hospital chiefs to properly treat patients with dengue for free,” Pineda said during Monday’s briefing meeting at the Executive House of the provincial government here.
This came amid reports that dengue cases are rising in the province despite its reported 500 decrease during the first quarter of the year.
“No need to be complacent with the remarkable decrease in dengue cases and other related diseases as rainy season started this month,” the governor said.
Dr. Marcelo Auchico, provincial health officer, said that there is also a need for an intensified information dissemination campaign on the importance of clean surroundings and good health care.
Auchico said through the instruction of the governor, he has coordinated with various schools throughout the province regarding the possible spread of dengue virus as he noted that school children are the usual victims of dengue.
“We have also joined the “Brigada Eskwela” together with the barangay health offices in helping clean the schools and their surroundings and premises,” he said.
