Future of BPO in the Philippines
President Benigno S. Aquino III on Thursday expressed high hopes that the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry in the country will continue to gain despite the challenges in the global economic arena citing foreign investor confidence in doing business in the country and the competitiveness of the Filipino people.
In his speech during the opening ceremony of the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Banking Group Ltd. Manila Hub Second Site at the 29th floor, MDC Building, Eastwood, Quezon City, President Aquino acknowledged the country as a haven of the best customer-oriented and service-driven workforce in the world as evidenced by the various recognitions given by notable entities and major stakeholders in the sector.
“Despite the challenges in the global economy, we are not expecting the industry to slow down in the foreseeable future… In fact, full-time employees in the sector are expected to increase to 610 thousand,” the President said.
“As a country that prides itself as having the best customer-oriented and service-driven English-speaking workforce in the world, this opening ceremony further validates the competitive strengths of the Filipino people,” he added.
