Help Victims of Floods in Aklan, Philippines

The provincial government of Aklan will be distributing a total of P1,080,000 worth of Emergency Shelter Assistance to victims of flood/soil erosion in Banga, Aklan and wind/storm surge in Barangay Tambak and Poblacion of New Washington, Aklan.

The emergency shelter assistance distribution, which will be held January 19 at the Conference Room of the Provincial Guest House here, will be led by Aklan Governor Carlito S. Marquez who will be assisted by Suzette Pioquid, Provincial Treasurer, and Elma Malbas, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer.

The flood/soil erosion victims of Taba-ao, Banga, numbering 17, whose houses were totally destroyed and carried by the strong current of the Aklan River, will receive P30,000.00 each, or a total of P510,000.

On the other hand, those in Poblacion and Tambak, New Washington whose houses were totally destroyed by the strong wind and storm surge, will get P20,000 each totaling P280,000 and those whose houses were partially damaged will get P5,000.00 each – or a total of P290,000.00.

Totally-damaged houses in the Poblacion and Tambak, New Washington numbered 14, while there are 58 partially damaged houses.

“The financial assistance to be distributed to these victims was sourced from the Quick Response Fund of the 5% Calamity Fund,” Malbas said.
