Iloilo Airport Ready for International Flight

Ilonggo Sen. Franklin M. Drilon and Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. are now preparing the New Iloilo Airport in Sta. Barbara-Cabatuan to accommodate international flights before the end of the year.

Iloilo Gov. Defensor, in his press conference this morning, also revealed that in the coming weeks he will be meeting with Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Sec. Mar Roxas to discuss the project.

Defensor said that Cebu Pacific has already expressed its intention of bringing in tourists from abroad directly to Iloilo airport.

The governor also said that he has already asked Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Iloilo manager Efren Nagrama to submit to him the list of things needed and matters to be acted on.

The Iloilo airport was designed to become an international airport with international standard facilities was inaugurated on June 14, 2007.

Sen. Drilon and Gov. Defensor were instrumental in the putting up of the new airport that used to be situated in Mandurriao, Iloilo city.
