Iloilo Gives Rice to Samar, Philippines

The National Food Authority (NFA) Iloilo is transporting Monday through the MV Lily Jean 22,000 bags of rice to Catbalogan that is experiencing rice deficiency.

NFA Iloilo assistant manager Miguel Aguirre said they are transporting 22,000 bags of rice out of 32,000 Catbalogan has ordered from Iloilo because of the capacity of the boat that would transport rice to the area.

Aguirre said that the NFA Iloilo has also earlier shipped 36,000 bags of rice each to Tacloban and Northern Samar.

The shipments to Tacloban and Northern Samar were done through the MV Cristian 5 first week of January.

Aguirre said that the NFA Iloilo is shipping out rice to help other places that have deficient rice supply. He further said that Iloilo province has always been having surplus production of rice.
