Two faculty members of the College of Engineering, who are at the same time information and communications technology (ICT) personnel of the university, attended a four-day training on “Internetworking Fundamentals (IFUND)” sponsored by SMART, Cisco Systems, and Trends.Net, Inc. through the SMART Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP) held at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) in Bacolod City from August 21-24, 2007.
The COE faculty members who attended the training were Engr. Reynaldo Agunod and Engr. Harvey Halasan. Engr. Agunod is also the Engineering Computer Laboratory Assistant, while Engr. Halasan is the Internet Supervisor of the HNU Internet facility.
Trends.Net Inc., through its trainor, Mr. Lawrence Paul Pascual, facilitated the training that was offered free-of-charge to the HNU participants. The training provided the participants an understanding and knowledge of Open Systems Interconnect (OSI), seven-layer model concepts, terminologies, and technologies. It also provided them with the basic skills and know-how in configuring Cisco routers and switches for network connectivity.
The training is part of SMART SWEEP which also provided for the transportation to and from Bacolod City including hotel accommodation of the participating COE faculty members.
