KALIBO, Aklan, -  Aklan is confronted with a problem, but a good one, according to Aklan governor Carlito S. Marquez.

The “good” problem is in the form of thousands of tourists arriving daily at the Kalibo International Airport (KIA) which the airport can’t handle well because of limited space and infrastructure, the governor related during his “Governor’s Report to the People” aired over Kalibo Cable here.

“We have the tourists the airport can’t handle”, Marquez told program anchorman Gus Tolentino in the program.

This predicament, according to the governor, was brought to his attention by no less than a Korean ambassador, who complained that processing of papers at the departure area could take more or less 2 hours due to shortage of facilities.

During processing, lines formed by departing tourists extend even outside the airport terminal, Marquez said.

Presently, domestic and foreign passengers are sharing the use of the new airport terminal building, which becomes crowded when domestic and international flights arrive or take off at the same time.
