by Maria Paz Espiritu

Eleven legislative officials of Afghanistan came to Bohol on June 2-5, 2007 to learn from the best practices of the province in the area of local governance. Gerry Roxas Foundation (GRF), a partner institution of Holy Name University, sought the Research Center’s assistance in the finalization of the visitors’ itinerary.

The visit included an audience with Gov. Erico Aumentado and Vice-Gov. Ernesto Herrera at the Provincial Capitol, Mayor Dan Neri Lim at the City Hall, Mr. Noel Mendaña at the Municipal Hall of Tubigon and Administrators of Holy Name University at the HNU Academic Conference Room.

The university’s “Bohol Poll” and the Center for Local Governance’s (CLG) partnership with the local governments were highlighted in the presentation. Two Afghanistan representatives from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) acted as interpreters during the interactions.

The study tour was made possible through the financial support of UNDP-Afghanistan.
