Literacy Support Program

SY 2009-2010 is the final year of Project REY (Reading Empowers Youth), a literacy support program in a five (5) years developmental reading program on pronunciation and reading comprehension taught by sixteen (16) reading specialists for Grades II to VI since 2005.

All beneficiaries are considered scholars coming from nineteen (19) primary schools considered to be non-readers. Fortunately, with the aid of the reading mediation classes handled by the reading specialists, all of them are now considered proficient readers.

The Project REY program was implemented by City Government of Tagum initiated by our Local Chief Executive Mayor Rey T. Uy who have already produced five hundred scholars when they conducted the recognition program held recently (March 12) at Tagum City Trade and Cultural Center.

“Education provides us a better quality life as it helps us attain our dreams that makes way for our city’s peace and progress”, happily emphasized by Mayor Rey T. Uy.

Moreover, members of the committee who painstakingly volunteered and shared their time and resources on the project and as well as the reading specialists who gave their love and effort in teaching the scholars were also honored during the recognition.
