Mining Ores in Nueva Ecija Confiscated
Government authorities have seized some 300 sacks of mining ores in a checkpoint along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Digdig, this town over the weekend.
Elements of the Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) based in San Jose City, led by PO3 Renato Pabia and PO2 Reynaldo Lastimosa, intercepted the two Fuso 10-wheeler covered trucks loaded with some 300 sacks of mineral ore, which were about to be shipped from Tuguegaragao, Cagayan, to Manila.
The cargo was not covered by any document from any government office.
While being inspected, one of the eight persons confronted by the police drew P200 and offered the same to the arresting officers as bribe to let their cargo pass.
The policemen immediately arrested the bribe giver.
At this juncture, one of the eight persons, identified as Edgardo Avengonzar Jr. boarded a waiting Toyota Innova car bearing plate number ZMC 330 and escaped from the checkpoint.
After a brief chase, the escaping Innova was checked at Baragangay Tayabo in San Jose City wherein a caliber .40 Glock 23 pistol was recovered from Avengonzar.
The other suspects were identified as Julie Cabanes, Louie David, Noel Perrion, Richard Mejia, Joni Petrola, Reynaldo Mosada and Martin Dela Cruz, all from Pangasinan.
