NSO Philippines Holds Civil Registration Month
In line with the nationwide celebration of Civil Registration Month, the National Statistics Office (NSO) with the Local Civil Registrars (LCR) is urging the public to register life’s milestones correctly and honestly. “It is not enough to just register, we should do it correctly and honestly,” said Ofelia Royandoyan, Catbalogan City Local Civil Registrar.
The Local Civil Registrar Association of Samar (LOCRAS) met to usher the event this February. NSO’s Letecia Chu said that LCRs are relevant saying, it makes it easier for people to get the papers they need for employment, for education, for travel, or whatever event.
Also, with the local registrars nearby, it will make it less costly for those who have a problem with the data in their NSO papers, like typo errors. Republic Act 9048 makes it easier to correct clerical or typo errors which can be done in the civil registry without need of judicial order.
