Palanca Literature Awards Winner
by Dr. Estrellita P. Sajulan
Noel Tuazon, a College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Faculty member in the Languages Department, recently won third prize during the 57th Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature Contest. His short story in the Cebuano Category, Regional Languages Division entitled “Kundat Sa Unang Gugma” was adjudged one of the best three.
During his college years, Mr. Tuazon was already exposed to the craft of writing and editing. In fact, he was the Literary Editor of Holy Name University’s The Word, the school’s official student publication.
As a person, Noel as he is fondly called, is very unassuming. One never knows that he is a writer and yet, from deep within, he has the talent, the gift that is rarely found among the many.
