Philippine Government Is Selling RTBs
The Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) sold Tuesday a total of P97 billion worth of retail treasury bond (RTBs) at the end of the six-day offer period for this debt paper.
National Treasurer Roberto Tan said the bulk of the amount was sold to public at P85 billion while the remaining P12 billion was sold to government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCCs).
“Orders, however, greatly surged pass that,” he said.
Tan earlier said orders already reached P200 billion or twice the P100 billion cap the BTr set for RTBs to be sold this year.
The government sold a total of P114 billion worth of RTBs in September last year.
Tan said they decided not to exceed issuing P100 billion this year because they only want to replenish maturing RTBs pegged at about P70 billion.
