Philippine Storm Egay – 2 Children Died

Two children died while another one was missing in Central Luzon as a result of heavy rains brought by tropical depression Egay.

Based on the latest report of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in Region 3 (RDRRMC-3), the victims were identified as Dorina Reyes, 5; and Mary Joy Reyes, 3; of Barangay Tipo, Dinalupihan, Bataan. They drowned while crossing a creek Monday morning.

The missing person, on the other hand, was identified as Ariel Delos Santos, a 15-year-old resident of Purok 5 Barangay Old Cabalan, Olongapo City.

The RDRRMC also reported three barangays in Olongapo City, namely Kalaklan, Mabayuan and Gordon Heights were affected by a landslide on Monday afternoon.

Thirteen families or 48 individuals were affected by the landslide wherein three families were evacuated to Mabayuan Barangay Hall.

Several areas in the region remain flooded due to high tide and continuous rains since Saturday.

In Pampanga, some villages in Lubao town have up to two feet of floodwater while Barangay Sto Nino and Barangay Plaza in Guagua town are one to six feet deep under water.

Villages which experienced knee-high floods in Bataan, on the other hand, are Padre Dandan, Pentor and Mabini in Dinalupihan town.

In Bulacan, floodings are also noted in the towns of Meycauayan and Marilao.
