Philippines 2nd La Salle Green Hills Inter-School Karatedo Championships

The Association for the Advancement of Karatedo (AAK) Davao is sending players in the 2nd La Salle Green Hills Inter-School Karatedo Championships on February 26 at the La Salle Green Hills gym at Ortigas, Mandaluyong City.

AAK Davao branch manager and head instructor Rommel Tan said Davao players are veteran medal winners in international and national competitions.

“Most of the team members are already veteran medal winners in international and national competitions and we hope to win and bring honor to the city,” he said.

Tan said seven players from Davao are part of AAK Philippines team that saw action in the 2nd SK Karate Cup held in Singapore last October and pocketed one gold medal with two silvers and two bronze medals. It was participated in by 10 countries and 13 teams.

He said Davao team are composed of Arthur “Chino” Lao III of the Holy Cross of Davao College; Jhon Albert Albarico, Pavel Jervis Bacayo, Joselito Callejo Jr., Angelica Noro and Vivian Cortes of the University of Immaculate Conception; Carmela Marie Estarija of Stella Maris Academy; Rick David Aquino of San Pedro College; Gabriel Quinones of Brokenshire Science High School; Craig Tarnate of Philippine Science High School; Mark Ayo of Ateneo de Davao University; and Tristan Sy, Manuel Sy, Kassandra Barnes, Alexa Barnes and Oona Barnes of Davao Christian High School.

Meanwhile, Tan said AAK Davao is also preparing to compete in the 3rd Silent Knight Asia Karate Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on February 10 to 12.
