Philippines Dental Health Month in February

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) has lined up several health-related activities starting January 29 as part of the celebration of Dental Health Month in February under the theme “Ngiting Matatamis, Ngiping Malilinis, Dala ay Pag-asa, Tunay na Ligaya.”

Dr. Eloy P. Bueno, provincial dentist, facilitated a meeting among representatives of the PHO, Department of Education (DepEd), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office and concerned local government units to tackle the preparation of the month-long affair.

To kick-off the celebration, a medical and dental outreach program led by doctors and nurses from Minnesota, U.S.A. is slated from January 29 to February 4 at the Western Pangasinan District Hospital in Alaminos.

To highlight Dental Health Month, the provincial launching of the Essential Health Care Package (EHCP) in Pilot and Expansion Schools and Day Care Centers will be held in Bautista Central School in the municipality of Bautista on February 8 at 9 a.m.

EHCP materials composed of toothbrushes, polypaste (toothpaste) bottles and soaps will be distributed among schools during the program followed by a demonstration on proper tooth-brushing and hand-washing.

Six elementary school students in grade five and six from the six districts of the Pangasinan will display their artistic talents in expressing the theme during the “Guhit Bulilit” contest scheduled on February 10 at the Kalantiao Building conference room at 9 a.m.

A Healthy Smile contest will follow the “Guhit Bulilit” where six day care pupils with the healthiest teeth and gums will be selected.

On Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14), provincial government employees with their families will participate in the Healthy Lifestyle Anniversary Outreach Program at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center at 9 a.m.
