Philippines Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) supplemental feeding program
The National Food Authority (NFA) Iloilo has started to distribute iron fortified rice for the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) supplemental feeding program implemented this 2012 in Iloilo province and city and in the island province of Guimaras.
NFA Iloilo asst. manager Miguel Aguirre said that they started last week the distribution of rice to the seven municipalities in the first district of Iloilo province. “We have already delivered the 683 bags to the day care centers in Guimbal, Miag-ao and in other towns of the first district,” Aguirre said.
He also said that this week, they are distributing 695 bags of rice to the towns in the second district.
“The rest of the five districts in Iloilo province will receive rice for supplemental feeding program in the succeeding weeks,” Aguirre said.
He said the NFA Iloilo will distribute rice to the 207 day care centers in Iloilo City that had been allocated 988 bags and to Guimaras that will receive 365 bags.
The supplemental feeding program is being implemented by the DSWD Regional Office 6 this year that has given an allocation of over P7.49 million to the NFA Iloilo as a way to mitigate hunger among the day care children.
