Philippines elementary schools in Central Visayas will receive computers
Some 205 elementary schools in Central Visayas will receive computers this year under the Department of Education’s (DepEd) computerization program, an education official said.
Of these schools, 56 are in Cebu Province and 35 in Cebu City, DepEd 7 Director Recaredo Borgonia said.
Borgonia said he has directed schools division superintendents to supervise the delivery of computers, which is expected within the first quarter of this year.
Borgonia, in a memorandum, also instructed superintendents to assist the schools in preparing for the delivery of the computers and to monitor the use of these computers.
Identified by DepEd’s Technical Service-Information and Communication Technology Unit and the Bureau of Elementary Education, each of the recipient schools has more than 900 students.
DepEd’s computerization program aims to provide public schools with technologies that will enhance the teaching-learning process in school.
It aims to reduce the computer backlog in public schools, provide laptops to mobile teachers and raise the knowledge on information and communication technologies (ICT) among school children and teachers.
The program has already provided 5,409 public secondary schools nationwide with a computer laboratory.
