Philippines Filing of Income Tax Returns

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) here is introducing a new tax filing and collection system to help taxpayers in the region in filing their income tax returns.

BIR Regional Director Thelma Milabao said the new system of the BIR is called Electronic Filing and Payment System (EFPS).

“With the introduction of the new tax filing and collection system, taxpayers need not to line up in BIR offices to file and pay their corresponding income taxes but instead they can file through Internet even at their homes, ” Milabao said.

The BIR is conducting an education campaign to their tax agents and local government employees to speed up the tax filing and collection to easily meet the deadline of filing income tax returns on April 15.

Milabao said there are now banks in the region that are capable of accepting the EFPS which processes the filing and collection electronically.
