Philippines International Exchange Program
Ten schools in Cebu will participate in an international exchange program.
The exchange program between the Department of Education (DepEd) 7 and the Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education (IMOE) in South Korea “aims to give teachers and students the chance to understand better each others’ culture,” said DepEd 7 Recaredo Borgonia in a memorandum.
Five schools in Cebu City, two in Lapu-Lapu City, two in Cebu Province and one in Mandaue City will participate in the program.
The exchange program hopes to “allow teachers and students in both countries to exchange their cultural identifies with one another through scholarship exchange as well as through sports and cultural exchange,” read the memorandum.
The program also hopes to encourage Filipino teachers to help establish an English Camp for Koreans in Incheon, Korea.
Korean delegates composed of two officials of IMOE, three principals, three teachers and two Cebu-based Korean guests will arrive in Cebu on Jan. 29 and will stay for six days.
The delegates will visit the participating schools and discuss with school heads the details of the exchange program.
In Cebu City, participating schools are Zapatera Elementary School, Lahug Elementary School, Regino Mercado Elementary School, Cebu City Science High School and Abellana National High School.
In Lapu-Lapu City, participating schools are STEC High School and Marigondon National High School.
