In a show of ruthlessness, New People’s Army (NPA) terrorists shot dead a mine worker while two more of the victim’s brothers were abducted in the village of Calabcab in Maco town in Compostela Valley province 9:00 PM Friday.
Felix Valiente Jr. was shot dead when he resisted to go with the terrorists while his two brothers identified as Jamil Valiente and Jimboy Valiente were taken at gunpoint.
Six armed men believed to be from Local Terrorist Front-2 of the NPA were responsible in the murder and abduction. The three brothers were mine tunnel workers in the village of Pamintaran in Maragusan town, a newly discovered mining area in the gold rich province of Compostella Valley.
Local residents believe that the crime was done in light of the continued refusal of the victims’ other brother to rejoin the NPA. Felix they say have repeatedly rebuked the NPAs in trying to convince his other brother, a rebel returnee known with his nom de guerre as Aying to rejoin the local terrorists.
Early this year; in Tagum City, NPA terrorists murdered Dionesio Baslan Jr., a rebel returnee. Memylin Moreno a 13 year old girl in Boston, Davao Oriental was also killed last Valentines’ day. Cafgu member Albino Pablo a 44 year old father of six was shot by NPA assassins in front of his wife while tending their farm in New Corella in Davao del Norte while another Cafgu and at the same time “habal-habal” driver, Florentino Mamuag Jr., was murdered in Davao City.
Last year, the CPP-NPA gained the condemnation of Dabawenyos when they brutally murdered the Tulang brothers in Davao City. The elder Tulang was shot on the head while his two siblings were hogtied, their necks slit and left to bleed to death. All of them bore torture marks.
