Political Plans of Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has said she three options when her last term expires in the middle of 2013.

She said she can aspire for a higher national position, run for a local or congressional seat, or return to private life and manage her business.

But Garcia, as One Cebu party president, said she is honored by Vice President Jejomar Binay’s offer to be with his Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino (PDP)-Laban party as senatorial candidate in the 2013 election.

”I will consider his offer when I come to a decision whether or not to run for senator,” she said.

One Cebu secretary general Rep. Pablo John Garcia (Cebu, third district), is also elated with offer, but he said it is still too early to decide.

He said anyone would be flattered by an offer coming from ‘the most trusted public official with the highest survey approval ratings.

Binay has been enjoying high approval ratings in surveys.

Rep. Garcia said the best time to weigh their-best options will still be in the middle of 2012.

Binay, in his visit to Toledo City’s 52nd Charter day celebration last Friday, said Garcia is a good governor, and that he hopes the governor will join his PDP-Laban party.
