Promotion of Filipino Policemen
Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director Melvin Ramon Buenafe has revealed that the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 is now working for the promotion of two policemen who were wounded during a shootout with robbers in a foiled robbery in a Cebu City mall Monday.
The shootout at Robinson’s Place in Fuente Osmeña Monday morning ensued when four men robbed a bank teller on her way to deliver P1.2 million cash to a money changer.
Three of the robbers and the teller’s two security escorts were killed. The bank teller and two policemen were wounded in the shootout.
Buenafe said he considers PO1 Elrich Jourdin Catacutan and PO1 Roy Ceniza an inspiration for other police operatives.
Catacutan was hit in the chest while Ceniza was wounded in his leg when they went after the robbers last Monday.
They were escorting a suspected thief to the Palace of Justice when they happened to pass by commotion the robbers caused near Fuente Osmeña.
Both policemen were awarded the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting and received cash.
