LUCENA CITY, Quezon — One of the results of the ‘value chain sensitization seminar for tourism sector’ conducted recently by the Quezon provincial tourism office is to have sectoral planning that would ensure the sustainable development of tourism industry in the province.
Alberto Bay Jr., acting provincial tourism officer, said the goal of the provincial government of Quezon is to put the province in the tourism map of the country as well as in the world by 2016.
Bay added that he encouraged the municipal mayors of Quezon to appoint permanent tourism officer and establish tourism information office so that local tourism in their area will get a boost and promoted well.
“We had started to prepare tourism road mapping, produce new audio visual presentation and handout materials, and activate provincial tourism committee to enhance the promotional strategy of the province,” Bay said.
According to Bay, their office had aired a weekly radio program at DWLC-Radyo ng Bayan, sponsored media tour, tour guiding seminar, established product display and information center, and joined trade and investment fairs.
Bay said he has been instructed by Quezon Gov. David Suarez to study and evaluate the Quezon National Forest Park as another potential tourist attraction in the province.
