Rice Supply in Philippine City
The National Food Authority (NFA) has assured that there is sufficient supply of rice for this city.
NFA provincial manager Gaudencio Nuega Jr. said the first shipment of imported rice for this city is expected to arrive either in April or May this year.
Nuega said his office still has a stock of 92,000 bags of rice of 50 kilos each and is expected to receive a shipment of 44,000 bags of rice coming from Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur.
All in all, Nuega said Zamboanga City has a total stock of 136,000 bags of rice which are good for a period of 110 days.
Aside from this, Nuega added that the region had a good production of rice in the last quarter of 2011.
The province of Zamboanga del Sur, which comprises one city and 26 municipalities is among the rice producing areas in the region.
