Special Election in Zambales Philippines
The special elections in the second district of the province were held peacefully on Saturday amid the shooting incident that killed an ex-police officer Friday night.
More than 200,800 registered voters in 10 municipalities have cast their votes on their respective polling precincts for a special election that was called following the death of then Congressman Antonio Diaz.
“The special election on Saturday was generally peaceful despite an isolated shooting incident of an avid supporter of Cheryl Deloso-Montallana, one of the candidates, which occurred at about 7:15 p.m. Friday at Barangay Mambog,” Botolan mayor Nerma Yap said.
Killed by elements of the Botolan Police Station during an exchange of fire fights at about at Barangay Mambog, this municipality, Friday evening was ex-Police Officer 2 Cesar M. Madoh, 42, and residents of Barangay Taugtog, this town.
He was known as an avid supporter of congressional candidate Cheryl Deloso, and during the tenure of her father former Zambales Governor Amor Deloso.
Zambales election supervisor Atty. Elaiza Sabile-David said aside from that shooting incident, no other election-related incidence or violation has been recorded.
