Supplemental Budget of Cebu City Council

Cebu City Budget Officer Nelfa Briones has submitted the proposed P237.49-million Supplemental Budget (SB) 2 to the Cebu City Council.

Briones said the bulk of the SB 2 goes to the maintenance and other operating expenses amounting to P184.28 million, which also includes P108.66 million for the special projects and programs under the Office of the Mayor.

Briones said the proposed SB2 includes P45.2 million capital outlay and P5.13 million for personal services.

She said the proposed SB2 covered the general fund of P215.85 million and the special account of P21.64 million.

Briones said she will attend the next council’s session to help defend the SB2, which was certified by former acting city treasurer Ofelia Oliva.

She also expects other members of the Local Finance committee (LFC) to be present in the deliberation of the SB2.

Members of the LFC are the city planning officer, city treasurer and the budget officer, as stated in the Local Government Code.

Acting City Treasurer Emma Villarete refused to comment if she will be the one to defend the SB2 during the next council’s session.

”Let’s wait and see. I will have to read the proposed budget,” Villarete said.

Briones said the sources of funds for the proposed budget have been identified, which they will also present to the City Council.
