Tax and Doing Business in Mandaue Cebu, Philippines

The Mandaue City government expects to collect about P359 million in business taxes by the end of this month.

Mandaue City Treasurer Regal Oliva said the city’s business tax collection increased about 50 percent over the previous year.

However, only 20 percent of the city’s 10,000 business establishments had renewed their business permits as of Friday.

Oliva said, though, that 1,800 new establishments applied for business permits last year.

The new businesses that registered last year include J Centre Mall, Gaisano Grand Centro, Colonnade Mandaue, Days Hotel and Allure Hotel.

Oliva attributes the early increase in the collection to different factors, such as the establishment of four business one-stop shops (BOSS).

BOSS counters are located in Barangay Centro, near the Mandaue City Hall; Parkmall in the reclamation area; J Centre Mall on A.s. Fortuna,; and Pacific Mall (formerly Metro Gaisano Mandaue) along M.C. Briones st.

Renewal of business permits started on January 2 and will end on January 20.

Oliva said the increase in collection could also be due to the City Treasurer’s Office’s advance collection in November last year.
